There's a moment on a Panamanian coffee farm when the altitude hits you before the coffee does. The air is cooler than you expect. The farms are quieter. And the farmers, many of them from indigenous Ngäbe communities, speak about their land in a way that makes traceability feel like the bare minimum of what you owe them.
That's where Jökoma begins.
Origin first. Always.
Jökoma was built around a single conviction: that the journey from seed to green bean deserves as much attention as everything that happens after. Swiss roasters are among the most discerning in the world. They invest in precision roasting, in cupping, in staff training. But the starting point, who grew the coffee, under what conditions, at what altitude, is often several steps removed.
We close that gap.
Every lot we import comes from farms we've visited in person, in the highlands of Chiriquí province, Panama's premier coffee-growing region, home to the volcanic soils of Boquete and Volcán that produce some of the most sought-after Geisha in the world. We're there during harvest. We see the cherry selection. We know the drying beds.
Why Panama. Why now.
Panama Geisha has earned its reputation in the specialty world, but it's still underrepresented in the Swiss green coffee market relative to its quality ceiling. Processing innovation, washed, natural, and anaerobic fermentation, is accelerating at the farm level. Altitude lots above 1,600 metres are producing cup profiles that rival anything from Ethiopia or Colombia at a fraction of the sourcing complexity.
The window for establishing direct relationships with these producers is open. Jökoma is in it.
What "complete origin" means in practice
Our name comes from two sources: jokra, a word in Ngäbere (the language of Panama's indigenous Ngäbe-Buglé people) meaning completeness, and aroma. Jökoma. It's a reminder that nothing is missing from what we hand you.
Every lot we supply arrives with full traceability documentation: farm name, producer, altitude, variety, processing method, and harvest date. We provide SCA-standard cupping notes. And we offer sample kits so your team can evaluate before committing to a full order.
You roast. We handle the origin, completely.
For roasters who want more than a spec sheet
If you're a Swiss roaster looking for Panama green coffee with a direct sourcing story behind it, not a commodity grade dressed up in specialty language, we'd like to talk.
